Peace on Earth

I would like to wish you a happy holiday and hope that the happiness it brings is a precursor to the new millennium.  We have been blessed with a very eventful past 12 months. Some were joyful, some sad, and some surprises. We are grateful to have friends and family like you who bring warmth and joy to our lives. Below are some *highlights of the past year.

My sweet buddy Luke, June 1984- December 1999
We are saddened that our best buddy Luke has left this earth but are joyful in knowing that he has gone to sniff out greener pastures.  He lived 15 long and happy years and was loved by everyone.  We miss his clickety claws about the kitchen floor, his tiny bark, his adoring look and everything about him.. I can handle that big bone anytime, see!
We patronize them for their incompleteness; for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves.  And therein we err.  For the animal shall not be measured by man.  In a world older and more complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. From The Outermost by Henry Beston.  Complete selection will be posted in the future.

The little chapel in San Juan Capistrano Mission, October 1999 Nancy, Melinda, Lucia, and I spent a relaxing week by the beach; just goofing off, riding bikes and playing our new favorite game, "Wizard".

Fresh Paint and tiled steps September 1999
We finally did it!  We love our house.  It is golden when the sun sets Click here for more details.

Acropolis, Athens, Greece, July-August, 1999
We went on a cruise to the Aegean , visiting Greek Islands and Turkey.  Made new and wonderful friends Vic and Florence.  We all have a warm spot in our hearts for the people there and are still shocked by the tragedy that befell Turkey and hope that there is a big silver cloud behind it all.    Visit Aegean site for more details.

Chester, Vermont, June 1999
Took a drive from Connecticut to Chester Vermont to visit Lucia's childhood friend Betsy. Such a beautiful part of the world!

Park City, Utah, May 1999
Business brought me to Salt Lake City where we visited Katie and took a drive to Park City.  What awesome views!

Joshua Tree Monument, April, 1999
We are but a tiny spec in the midst of our Mother Earth's grandeur.

 Galveston Island, Texas, May 1999
We visited the mansions left standing after the deadly hurricane that killed thousands in the beginning of the century.

Northstar Ski Resort, Lake Tahoe, March 1999
A weekend in Tahoe with friends.  One of the days we spent tobogganing at Northstar. We don't ski.

Sugarloaf Ridge, Napa, California, February 1999
We went camping at one of our favorite sites with Lucia, Barbara, Shelly, Cindy and Luke.

 Cocoa Beach, Florida, January 1999
Had a chance to visit Kennedy Space Center on a business trip to Cocoa Beach.  Having had the special privilege of being on the launch pad floor 255 and standing directly under one of the space shuttles, "Endeavor" and touching its wings was one of my most exciting moments.
Many other events took place in 1999.  I had the opportunity to seek out a new career as a result of a reduction in force at Autodesk.  I had a good 15 years there, learned a lot, made good friends.  Saw a few shows. Went to a few dances and a couple of marches.  Our friend Kristi had her baby boy, Spencer, on December 11.  My daughter, Isa got her first pet dog; Oso, and started grad school in the fall at UCSC.

All the other pets are fine, Billy had a bit of a boy- kitty thing, and Lucy is on a high calorie diet, turning 15 on Valentines day, and Patches will be 20 in 2000 and you wouldn't know it!  See animals.

Life is wonderful.  I am thankful for all that has happened in 1999 and for the times we've shared.

"Love each other or perish." by the poet Auden. "It's good no?  And it's so true.  Without love, we are birds with broken wings."  Morrie Schwartz... tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom.
With love....
