Happy New Year
 

The 21st century began with fireworks’ bang,

As we cruised SF Bay on a boat with our gang.

The Y2K months were adventure-filled times.

I’ll hit some high points, right now, in this rhyme.  

 

Trips taken this year were great R and R,

Some via air and some via car.

Mexico and (Big Island) Hawaii; two travels of note.

Where we snorkeled and swam and cruised many a boat.

We showed visiting guests some CA treasures;

San Diego, Yosemite and Lake Tahoe’s pleasures.

And camping?  We pitched our old tent out the door

For a new pop-up tent trailer and comfy camping galore.  

 

Two darling puppies named Lilly and Dash

Became ours in May and steal hearts in a flash!

They streak through the house.  They rip, tear and chew,

Then look up so sweetly.  What’s a Mother to do?

This was a year of reunions with kin.

With cousins from both sides, together again.

A visit with Mom to brother John’s weekend retreat

Made a fall weekend so hard to beat.  

 

And wedding festivities for my cousin Pat’s son

Had Halloween weekend bursting with fun.

Our home was the site of big next-day brunch,

And with 65 guests, a cozy space crunch!

Lilly and Dash Celebrate the Season

As ever, I’m blessed with good friends and fine health

Great partner, the garden and gold sunsets my wealth.

While some pals my age are retired and resting,

I’m still a wage slave still working and vesting.  

 

The best to you all in the new year 01,

With only good times, good health and good fun.
