Greetings! Another year
has gone by and what a busy 2001 it has been! I continued
to take my weekly Southwest Airlines commute flight to Orange County
where I am happily employed as the "e-learning manager" for
Filenet Corporation. Lucia, on the other hand, became happily
unemployed in late June. Isa graduated from UCSC with her
Master's in Education and is enjoying her first full-time job as a
teacher. She is Ms. Isa or Ms. Avila for her first grade class
of 19 kids in Watsonville. In 2001 we have seen the
dot.coms become dot.gones, we have a new government and a new
president. Life just happened in 2001 until WHAM, we
all were hit by 911.
I've been conflicted about
putting together what seems like an act of vanity and frivolity,
recalling and reporting what I did in 2001; after all, we are still in
mourning. But life did
happen in 2001 and I am thankful that I am here to talk about it and,
hopefully, to help create a better world. I am sad for all those
who lost their lives, or a loved one in the terror of 911. I am
appalled by ignorance and hatred. I can only hope and pray that
we come to some resolution of peace in the world.
To continue my "www year in
review" tradition (since 1996), here is my journal for 2001.
