NEW YORK VISIT, OCTOBER 5-11

We first visited Susan and Kristy and Saugertis, near Woodstock, where they bought a home.  It was very relaxing and beautiful.  We drove to Vermont as the leaves were still not its peak.  We did see some colors. We also visited the Roosevelt summer mansion at Hyde Park.  Lucia cooked her spaghetti and meatballs.  After the weekend, we took the Amtrak to NYC.

We had planned this trip months before 911, so it was a difficult decision to make whether to go to NYC or not, but we did.

In NYC we stayed at my friend Francis' apartment in the West Village.  We visited Ground Zero twice.  It was very heartwarming to hear different stories from people in New York about their experiences.  We visited fire stations and brought a small offering of See's chocolate for some sweet relief to the firemen.  We also visited David and had dinner with Lucia's other friend, Stephanie.  We went to the Rosie show and checked out NBC's Today show.  Last, but not least, we saw a broadway play, "Proof".  The trip was an eye opener, I think my experience seemed more real (as devastating as it was) being there.
