Hydra was the most picturesque island in this tour. Approaching Hydra was very dramatic, as it is a barren rock, but beautifully formed. As you got closer to the port you see fortress walls and a picturesque town cradled in the hills.

Hydra is known as an artist island, therefore they had beautiful crafts, pottery and jewelry for sale in the many lovely boutiques.

It also has a very colorful dock, which you will see as you walk along the port.

Approaching Hydra.

Entering the straits.

Facing behind as you enter, is a shot of the fortress walls.

Almost to the port.

Stray cats to greet the tourists. Spare any food?

By this point we realized that there was a lot of hills all over Greece. Donkeys were common carriers for hot, tired, or lazy tourists.

This church caught my eye because it was the first of those typical whitewashed buildings you see . Unfortunately I failed to take a shot of the interior.

More Hydra pictures can be seen on the next page.
